Year by year in the European Union and North America, about 100.000 persons die in traffic accidents. This means approximately 125 Boeing 747 airplanes crushed in EU and other 125 in North America every year. At international level it is even worse, the figure reaching 1.200.000 deceased persons every year. This would mean that daily 8 planes might crush without having survivors.

We are wondering which healthy person would wish to fly in such conditions? Even mass-media would be filled up maybe of so many events fallen from the sky ‘ for nothing’ without having to dig and invent whatever makes good rating. This is the price in human lives of the traffic accidents we pay but in the same time we always neglect. We know that speed, alcohol and lack of attention are killing, we see every day such tragedies on the TV news but we are unconscient and continue to assume useless risks hoping that we won’t be subject to such things. We can see here below the consequences of a very tragic traffic accident with deceased which happened recently on DN 1 between Ploiesti and Bucharest.

There are among us psychopaths and very aggressive persons and we don’t know if, where ,when or how they will strike us. We might hope that we won’t be at the wrong time and place in the presence of the potential aggressor. We only know that hope dies last – meaning together with us. But as hope is not a strategy and instead of looking for guilty people or to pretend that nothing is happening around us is much better to find solutions and prepare ourselves for what is worse hoping for the better. Thus it is in our power to be combative and to oppose this status-quo.

In Christian vision one of the greatest sins is laziness – in our case not doing anything and not opposing the evil. Immediately, easy and without feeling it all our ignorance’s lacks will show up. Satan’s perfect work is to make us believe that he does not exist. Besides laziness there are also other sins : pride, self loving, money loving, crime, prostitution, vane worshipness. But laziness is the precursor and catalyze of all. We didn’t intend here to teach morality and Christianity lessons but to draw attention that it is one thing to know the WAY (whatever it might be that) and other is to go towards it.

Dave Grossman(well known military psychologist whose books ”On killing’ and ‘On combat’ ,part of the mandatory literature for the Green Berets, Rangers, Marines, FBI, ATF, SWAT, SEAL CHF AND RCMP was mentioning in his articles: ‘ There are 3 types of individuals in our society: the sheep (ordinary people who don’t believe they would be subject to violence and who do not accept violence and do not prepare themselves to face it); then the Wolves (aggressors who see the sheep as their nourishment and means of survival) and last , the Watch Dogs of the flock (policemen, special troops, bodyguards, lonely fighters, for whom their only aim in life is to prepare for the meeting with the wolf and to protect the flock). The Universal Human Phobia:

If for some generations there won’t be doctors, professors or engineers, humankind would be in a very difficult situation but would recover. But it wouldn’t exist anymore, just for one generation, fighters willing to confront themselves every day with human aggressions on the streets or on the battle fields in view of protecting human rights and freedom of their individuals then, human society as we know it would disappear. When 98 % of the people run away panicked, the fighters go for us and democracy into the most toxic, corrosive and destructive environment – inter-human fight. For example: in a waiting room full of people, in a relative safe environment suddenly appears a sociopath armed with a sword or other kind of arm which he knows how to use and starts attacking around at random, without any logical reason. There will be a general panic and history where people will start tumbling one over the others in order to get out of there. Who would fight with that aggressor who seems to have nothing to loose? In USA, statistically the rata to be the victim of a criminal assault is of 4 persons to 1000 which means that during a lifetime million of persons shall never hurt due to these violence. Some of us fear snakes, dogs and other animals that might become dangerous and if these come up we act accordingly, but we cannot live forever fearing that another human being wishes to harm us and will even attack us (we would become paranoid and have a nervous breakdown then). That is why when such isolated things happen to us their effects are devastating. It is something unusual and very ferocious – it is for real and very personal. It is one thing to have our home destroyed by flood and the family to be taken to a hospital and other thing when a group of criminals attacks our home, puts it to fire and harms physically our family. The consequences seem to be the same: a destroyed home and a hurt family. The difference is the first is a natural causes and the second is something personal, we have been selected to be a victim by other fellowship. Every year, millions of persons die due to cancer, cardio diseases or other diseases. But these together cannot equal the emotional impact on citizens the images obsessively transmitted by televisions about one single family slaughtered in its own apartment.

Abraham H. Maslow , reputed sociology scientist remembered in his needs pyramid that must be satisfied by/for a human being and the social environment that must be safe (danger generated by war, interpersonal aggressions , traffic accidents) . If a nation through its structures of power cannot provide a general accepted safety climate then this nation has violated its social contract with its citizens and finally doesn’t justify anymore its very existence. Why should its citizens should pay anymore taxes and respect the country’s laws if the state cannot provide them and their children a safe environment? That is why our fighters are those who install security by applying the laws of that country. They are those who run towards the danger to protect the values of democracy when all the rest run away.

George Washington declared: “ He who would have peace must prepare for war”(a.n) : when fighting against the enemy on the battle field, against drugs, poverty, social unjustness’s and not last the traffic accidents and street violence. ) Sir Herbert Butterfield mentioned: Battles have in common the behavior of men struggling to reconcile their instinct of self-preservation, their sense of honor and achievement of some aim over which other men are ready to kill them. The study of battle is therefore always a study of fear and usually courage, usually also faith and sometimes vision.’ And Benjamin Franklin (known to some after the 100 $ note) used to say: ‘ By failing to prepare you are preparing to fail’.
